Lily Funk

Lily is a brave 12-year-old sixth grader facing unimaginable challenges with a heart full of hope. Born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, she has already endured four open-heart surgeries and a massive stroke at just three years old. Now, Lily is in need of a heart transplant, which will require her and her family to relocate temporarily to Dallas for at least three months. Despite her struggles, Lily remains a beacon of joy and kindness, touching the lives of everyone she meets. The financial burden of constant travel and medical expenses has been heavy on her family, and as they prepare for the transplant, the weight only grows. Your support would not only lift this immense burden but also remind her that her community is standing by her side, cheering her on in her fight for a long and healthy life.

Beth Brock

Beth Brock is a dedicated and beloved kindergarten teacher at Prairie View Elementary, facing the battle of her life after being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. Despite undergoing surgery and preparing for chemotherapy, Beth’s commitment to her students remains unwavering. Even while recovering from surgery, fighting infections, and dealing with other setbacks, she ensured her classroom was ready for the new school year. A single mother of two daughters, Beth refuses to let cancer define her, determined to keep teaching through her treatments if possible. Her resilience, love for her students, and passion for teaching shine through, but this journey is a heavy burden. As a community, we want to lift some of that weight off her shoulders, easing her financial worries and supporting her as she faces months of chemotherapy. Beth is a shining light in our school, and now it’s our turn to rally around her in her time of need.

Cavett Kids Foundation

Since 1997, The Cavett Kids Foundation has provided FREE camps, programs and special events for children battling chronic and life-threatening illnesses (many who are alumni of Mustang schools). Their mission is to develop character, coping and connection for kids battling life-threatening illnesses. Today, they are now an established non-profit with over 20 years of service and an impact reaching nearly 15,000 children each year. They offer seven camps, four ongoing programs and annual events at no cost! The camps and programs provide traditional childhood fun like fishing, arts, crafts, swimming and a camp dance. So many of the campers cannot attend a traditional summer camp because there is often nobody qualified to care for them. But at Cavett Kids, they provide a fully staffed volunteer medical team. The camps are truly more than just a camp…they are a place “where illness does not define the child.”
